Similar to the approach used to identify fund managers in the Cleantech Equity Fund Initiative, Venture Ontario undertook the establishment of one or more limited partnerships focused on equity investments in life sciences technologies in which Venture Ontario would participate on the same terms as the other limited partners.

With a prospective anchor commitment of up to $50 million, Venture Ontario issued a call for expressions of interest from qualified managers to establish a new life sciences venture capital fund or from those managers that have an existing fund which has commenced fundraising but has not yet achieved a final close.

The fund(s) would primarily focus on investing capital to high potential, innovative Ontario-based life science companies. It is anticipated that Venture Ontario's prospective investment commitment would leverage significant additional capital commitments from other investors.
