- Accountability
Venture Ontario’s accountability structure flows from its governing statute, the Venture Ontario Act, 2008 and Regulations. Venture Ontario’s accountability is governed by directives issued by Management Board of Cabinet (“MBC”) relating to Crown agencies. Together, these provide that the Minister of Economic Development Job Creation and Trade (the “Minister”) reports and responds to the Legislative Assembly and Cabinet regarding Venture Ontario.
The Chair of the Board of Directors (the “Chair”) is accountable to the Minister for the Corporation’s performance in fulfilling its mandate.
The Board of Directors (the “Board”) is appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Minister and is accountable to the Minister, through the Chair, for supervising the management of Venture Ontario’s business.
The President & Chief Executive Officer (the “CEO”) is accountable to the Chair for the day-to-day management of Venture Ontario’s operations and supervision of staff.
Venture Ontario Staff, who are accountable to the CEO, are appointed pursuant to the Public Services Act and are subject to MBC policies and directives applicable to public servants.
